PES Women stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Rainbow Rose, the Party of European Socialists (PES) and the Partit Laburista in Malta this week in support of Europe’s LGBTI community.

Building on a long history of participation in Pride events alongside the LGBTI community and its organisations and allies, PES Women this week joins EuroPride 2023.

Gathering online today, PES Women Executive reiterated PES Women’s commitment to include LGBTI rights in the organisation’s work. Members affirmed that LGBTI rights are human rights, and that human rights are for everyone. European socialists and social democrats are the leading force in the European Union working to achieve full equality for LGBTI people. We continue to stand with all of the LGBTI community.

PES Women President Zita Gurmai said:

“Gender equality is inherently connected to the fight for LGBTI rights. Indeed, feminism and LGBTQI activism go hand in hand. As social democrats and progressives, we cannot have one without the other. PES Women is a staunch supporter of LGBTI rights, Rainbow Rose and civil society organisations who fight for the LGBTI community.”

Executive members also discussed the upcoming PES Congress which will take place on 10 – 11 November in Malaga hosted by PSOE, a full member party of the PES.
