PES Women & Progressive Alliance Parallel Event at CSW70

PES Women & Progressive Alliance Parallel Event at CSW70

As part of the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), PES Women and the Progressive Alliance are organising a parallel event titled Beyond the Law – Closing the Gaps in Anti-Discrimination and Gender Justice, addressing one of the most pressing challenges in the fight for gender equality: the gap between legislation and lived realities.

Despite the existence of anti-discrimination laws and gender equality frameworks, women and girls across regions continue to face structural barriers that prevent real access to justice. This discussion will examine the gap between legislation and implementation, linking European policy experience with perspectives from the Global South, and addressing the growing political backlash against women’s rights.
