For a Gender Equality Council formation
Ahead of the EU leaders meeting of June 2020, PES Women and its member organisations called on the European Council to establish a Council configuration for gender equality.
2020 was supposed to be the year when the EU finally started to take gender equality seriously. It marked the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and the EU finally got a new EU Gender Equality Strategy and a progressive Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli.
PES Women called on EU leaders to take their responsibility and create the necessary institutional structures to advance women’s and minority rights.
