Unfortunately Barbara lost this fight, but she remains in our memory as a great social-democratic politician who has contributed immensely in advancing of women’s rights in Austria, Europe and the world. Zita Gurmai, President of PES Women, underlines that „I have known Barbara for many years and had the great opportunity to work with her at Socialist International Women. Her work and engagement on gender equality issues inspired us all and PES Women has always tried to build up on the legislative proposals and social-democratic values she puts forward. Barbara will be greatly missed.“
