PES Women

We promote gender equality and women’s representation both inside and outside the Party of European Socialists.

About us

Promoting gender equality and women’s rights

PES Women is fighting for a gender just and feminist Europe by giving a voice, tools and platform for women, by putting forward specific women’s rights policies, through gender-mainstreaming the overall policy-making of the Social Democratic family.

✊ Ahou Daryaei, an Iranian student at Azad University in Tehran, removed her clothes in protest against Iran’s strict hijab dress code, after being harassed by campus security officers. Since then, she has been severely beaten and arrested by the morality police. This occurs two years after the death of Mahsa Amini, who was arrested and killed by the morality police for allegedly not adhering to this dress code, which sparked the movement “Women, Life, Freedom.”✊ Through her act of resistance, Ahou risked her life and has become, alongside Mahsa Amini, Narges Mohammadi, and many other Iranian women, a heroine of freedom. We stand by their side. #WomenLifeFreedom #ahoudaryaei #mahsaamini #nargesmohammadi #iranianwomen See MoreSee Less
